How I Help | Stevens Counseling Services

HOW I HELP

Life can be demanding, especially when you’re juggling work, relationships, family, and the constant pressure to keep moving forward. My approach to therapy is warm, relational, and grounded—focused on helping you gain clarity, make meaningful decisions, and move through life with more confidence and direction.

Whether we meet in person at my Arvada office or virtually anywhere in Colorado, you’ll have a space that supports honesty, reflection, and real progress.

A Supportive Space to Slow Down, Look Inward, and Recalibrate

Most of the people I work with don’t need someone to “fix” them—they need space to think, feel, and process without judgment.

Together, we explore what’s been weighing on you, the patterns shaping your decisions, and the stressors pulling you off balance. Through that clarity, we build momentum toward the life you want to live—professionally, personally, or both.

Common Concerns I Work With

Many of my clients are high-performing, hard-working adults who may look “fine” on the outside but are carrying more than they realize. I regularly help people with:

  • Stress, burnout, and overload

  • Life transitions (divorce, career shifts, empty-nesting, major life decisions)

  • Relationship concerns

  • Anxiety, overwhelm, and intrusive thoughts

  • Low motivation or feeling “stuck”

  • Loss of purpose or direction

  • Identity questions or uncertainty about the future

  • Perfectionism, self-criticism, and high expectations

  • Balancing parenthood and career demands

  • Boundary-setting and communication challenges

You don’t need to have a crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes the biggest changes come from simply pausing long enough to understand yourself differently.

My Therapeutic Approach

I use a blend of evidence-based approaches that are collaborative, practical, and tailored to each person’s needs:

  • Motivational Interviewing to help you clarify direction and build momentum

  • Strengths-Based Therapy to highlight what’s already working

  • Narrative Therapy to help you reframe unhelpful or outdated stories

  • Solution-Focused Therapy to create small, meaningful steps forward

  • Cognitive and insight-oriented strategies to build awareness and shift patterns

At the core, my work is relational. I believe therapy is most effective when you feel seen, understood, and supported—not judged, lectured, or pressured.

I primarily work with adults, including:

  • Busy professionals

  • Business owners and entrepreneurs

  • Parents balancing many roles

  • Individuals experiencing major life changes
